Excited about the NEW YEAR!!

Can you believe this year is coming to an end? Between sessions, editing, ordering appointments, deliveries, the flower shop/gift shop, homeschooling, being a wife/mother and business owner and everything that comes in between-- it's been a BUSY year! I have neglected our blog and Facebook, but hope to do better in 2012. We are so thankful for our clients!! Thankful that you trust us for so many of your special moments. Our plans for 2012 are exciting! Lots of new products and session ideas-- Hope you and your family had a great Christmas! Happy New Year!

Facebook -vs- website updates and blogging

It seems like I have been fairly good about updating Facebook, but I have neglected my website and blog... until NOW! This has been a busy summer, but now that we are about to settle down into a routine with school, maybe I will be a little better at updating our website and blog on a regular basis.

We have some changes coming next week---- we start homeschooling! We are excited and nervous all together! With all that we have going on in our lives, we still feel 100% certain that this is what we need to do with our precious son, Lawson. He is excited and has arranged the upstairs room into our classroom. The dry erase board is hanging, the computer credenza has HIS computer in place, the book shelves are holding our school books and his table is just waiting on him. Say a quick prayer for us as we adjust to our new way of learning! My goal is to be certain that Lawson knows that he is OUR BLESSING, not our educational burden. We both have adjustments to make---- These changes have taken place because Lawson has struggled since he started school. Since learning that Lawson is dyslexic, we have decided that he actually learns better in a non-traditional school setting. We experimented with a school last year, but over the summer we saw first hand the best ways for him to learn. He is very hands on--- a show, tell, do method works great! If he has to read it or write it, well, you can just FORGET IT!! So, we are going to focus on reading, writing, spelling and his love for math---- all in a multi-sensory method. Going back to the basics and then moving forward once we know he has mastered the skill. We also have some awesome field trips planned too. We are very excited to begin our journey!

Is it just me or is 2010 flying by way too fast? My goodness~~~ We are busy getting ready for the LIVE BUNNIES!! It's that time of year again. We will be doing LIVE BUNNIES in Oakland, TN on March 20. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED for Oakland, TN!! So, please call or email to reserve your spot. There are limited appointments available and they are going fast! We will also be at Cedar Hill Farm in Hernando, MS on March 27, 28 and April 2, 3. NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED AT THE FARM. These LIVE bunnies are so cute!! Children of all ages are welcome!!

After the bunnies, we will be gearing up for PET PHOTOGRAPHY~~~ Many of you know that our family grew over Christmas with the addition of our precious dog, Stratton. He is an Australian Shepherd and so very precious!! So, how can we NOT offer PET PHOTOGRAPHY, right???? This is one of the MANY NEW VENTURES for me. I have never been an "animal lover". I "liked" them, but did not "love" them. Lawson, our son, has been wanting a dog so bad and we figured he was at the perfect age for that responsibility. OH MY GOODNESS---- someone should have warned me on how much I would love this little fella. He is so adorable and SMART. He was eight weeks old when he came to our house on Christmas Eve. He was housebroken in a few days and now he rings the little bells at the back door when he needs to go take care of his "business". I am telling you that he is an amazing addition to our family. So, I am stepping out of my comfort zone and moving full force into incorporating PET PHOTOGRAPHY into the services of Jennifer Tilghman Photography. If you love your pets as much as we love ours, you will NOT want to miss out on what we will be offering. No boring backdrops--- real creative, real natural and REALLY AMAZING works of art for your home! STAY TUNED...

The end is near and boy has this year flown by for me. What about you? Has it been a busy, crazy year for you too? I am so very excited about 2010. So many plans to put into action... I am beyond excited!! I cannot wait to get everything rolling.

Thank you to all of my clients! You made this year fabulous and I have been so honored to capture precious memories for you and your family. I will be posting my favorite pictures from 2009 this week, so please be sure to check back. From newborns and children, to family, high school seniors and weddings. It warms my heart when I look back at this past year. Thank you--- to each and every one of you!

Yes, it is that time again!!! Fall is HERE and it feels GREAT!!

We are heading out to CEDAR HILL FARM in Hernando, Mississippi for Fall Portraits! No appointment needed! Come on out and enjoy the fun!!! Admission at the entrance will give you access to so much fun... the petting zoo, pony rides, great food, pic-nic areas, a fun hay ride out to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin, corn maze and a great play ground. Be sure to stop by and see us before you get dirty!!

I have not been very faithful to BLOG lately, but I did want to take a minute to pass along a website and blog that I know you will want to be praying for! AC Curtis is a dear friend of ours. We go to Church together at Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi. We are excited to see how God is working in his life and very much thrilled with his ministry. Lava Lamp

Does this bring back memories for anyone? All of a sudden, Lawson has become amazed with LAVA LAMPS. Just wanted to share a few photos of him enjoying his new "night light". He said, "I think I will sleep so good now because I can watch the lava go up and down until me eyes goes to sleep".

Proud Mama brags on her precious son...

Oh yes, proud is correct!!! Lawson has really struggled with this thing called SCHOOL, so we were very excited when we opened his report card. Bless his heart, he was so worried!! When I told him that he had all A's and B's, he smiled so big and said, with a look of amazement... "Man, I did pretty good, didn't I Mama?". I was just thrilled... we made so many phone calls to family to share the good news! He even thought of people to call so HE could tell them!I snapped a few photos of his JAG ROLL ribbon. In celebration of this GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT, we let him choose where he wanted to eat tonight, and he decided on Ribs (one of his favorites). His choice of restaurant...Blues City Cafe on Beale Street. He loves Downtown Memphis!

We are so very proud of you Lawson! Keep up the good work!!

My sweet boy...and his swollen eye!

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, then you will know that we had to take Lawson to the doctor yesterday. We spend the weekend at Cedar Hill Farm and Lawson, our 7 year old son, came to us on Saturday and said he had something in his eye. We did not see anything, but we washed it out with Visine just to be safe. We were at the farm until 10:30 Saturday night, so the weather had gone from warm to very cold. Sunday morning, Lawson wakes up and he sounds very congested, so I figured he was coming down with a cold since we had been in the cool weather. Well, as the day went on and the night time came, his eye was red, swollen and draining. Come Monday morning, he could hardly open it. I snapped this photo right before we left for the doctor. After a visit to a pediatric eye doctor, and $ 180.00 later (even with insurance), he is much better today! He had an infection, but the doctor said it appeared to be a combination of sinus junk and irritation from whatever may have been in his eye. We are thankful that he is better!

A day at the farm...

Hello everyone! We are having a great time at Cedar Hill Farm. Come and join us!! The weather has been nice, a little hot at times, but the friends and families have been GREAT!! Don't miss out...so many fun things to do. During the day you can enjoy hay rides to the pumpkin patch, corn and hay maizes, petting zoo and great food! At night, the events change-- after 6:00 pm, you can enjoy the haunted hay ride, the trail of terror, a bonfire (smores kits available) and more great food! Be sure to have your face painted!

Come see us! We are under the pavilion at the main entrance---nestled away in the corner! Be sure to stop by and say HI.

Some EXCITING events to share with you!

I have been having a great time with your children lately, but every once in a while it is nice to have some "grown up" fun too. I do alot of event photography as well, and over the past few months, I have met Charlie Daniels, Terri Clark and Neal McCoy. Below are a few images from their concerts. I must say that Charlie Daniels is by far the nicest man! He was so friendly...I even got to ride in the elevator up to the stage with him and his crew. He was a hoot! Neal McCoy came in a close second place. He was so very polite and so much fun too! He is quite the comedian. I have always thought that he looked great in Wrangler Jeans (not many people do), so I did sneak a photo of his backside. Ha!! It has been fun and there are more to come over the next few months!

A Little Rebel

What a precious little girl... no doubt about it! She did great even though we were all just dripping with sweat once we finished. It was so humid and we even had to stop a few times and wait for the rain to come to a stop. YUK! That didn't slow down little Miss Cutie Pie though! Oh, one more thing... YES, her eyes are that blue!!! I hope you will be able to see how big and blue they are! She is gorgeous and her smile is contagious for sure! This was such a sweet family!

Senior Session---So Much Fun!!

We had a great time! You never know what you might encounter with us...wait to you read what happened. We approached a cool building and I was real excited! As we got out of the vehicle, we could hear dogs barking. I glanced around, but figured they were behind the building, so we continued about our session. The dogs just never stopped barking, so I asked my husband, Michael, to look around the corner just to "make sure". As he looked around the corner, out of the building comes a man. Now, his back was towards us and he was looking the other way towards Michael. Guess what we saw... THE MAN HAD A GUN BEHIND HIS BACK!!! Michael probably looked so strange because he was holding my big reflector!! Ha!!! Michael explained that we were taking photos with his cool door---NOTE: The building said FOR LEASE, so we did not think anyone was there! Once he knew what we were doing, he was fine and told us to continue on and come back anytime! YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF YOU ARE OUT WITH US!! Come on and join the ACTION!

WOW! I can not believe it has been so long since I have posted. I have been so very busy photographing your sweet children and a few weddings as well. Thanks for such a great response this year. We are growing more and more and I am trying to incorporate some new ideas too! Bring on your suggestions...I love trying new things. This is the latest change we have made---our new blog design. What do you think? Check back from time to time. I am going to try to do better about blogging.

Jennifer Tilghman Photography was featured on Good Morning Memphis, Fox 13 News and WE ARE SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! It was a story about a very popular spot in Memphis being used for bridal sessions. Memorial Park Cemetery is a gorgeous place for photos and Fox 13 captured us doing a bridal photo session. It was so much fun---very hot, but a bunch of fun!!!

4-Wheelin Wild Guys

My two favorite boys decided to take advantage of the mud puddles. Of course, I had to come along with camera in hand. They had some great fun and now I have some cool photos...can't wait to scrapbook these. I will have to design some "muddy" pages for sure!

Little Mr. Handsome

We had a great time today...before the rain came! We played on the railroad tracks with Little Mr. Handsome. "Thomas and his friends" even came along to see what it was like to be on the BIG tracks! They fell off from time to time...Uh oh... (look at his little hands). We even got a little smile from time to time.

Isn't he gorgeous? It was a cool, windy day, but he was a trooper!

It's Been A While...

It has been a while since I have updated you on things that are taking place with Jennifer Tilghman Photography! We have been SUPER BUSY and we are so very thankful to everyone that has allowed us to capture some very special moments for you! We had a great time at Cedar Hill Farm with the precious little bunnies. They were so cute and behaved perfectly for the photos! We had so many sweet and BEAUTIFUL children come through and we can not wait to see you all again in the fall. We will be back at the farm with hay bails, mums and pumpkins! Plan on coming back out to see us and enjoy the fabulous farm...THAT PLACE IS GREAT!! Wouldn't you agree?

We recently spent an evening with The Charlie Daniels Band! That was some great fun... Mr. Daniels and the band were so nice to visit with. We heard a lot of funny stories. We have some great photos from the night and I promise to share some of them soon.

Our schedule is filling up fast with spring sessions! Contact us to reserve your spot for gorgeous outdoor photos while the weather is still cool enough to tolerate. The only thing slowing us down right now is this WET WEATHER! We need for this rain to pass on through and let the grass dry! We met with the Memphis Botanic Gardens today and we plan to do A LOT of sessions there! IT IS GORGEOUS!!!!!! As always, I am anxious to hear about your ideas too! I love trying new things.

I promise that I will do better at BLOGGING! I will be busy this weekend updating our website! So, check it out next week.

Welcome To Our New Website!

We are so excited about the launch of our new website. It will remain as a "work in progress" for several weeks. We are working hard to get all of our sessions posted. Please continue to check back on a regular basis.

COMING SOON... We will be doing the LIVE Bunny photos in March. Two of the bunnies are currently living in our house and we are "bonding". I never knew that rabbits were so messy. They are so cute though. One is all white and our son, Lawson, has named her Snowflake. The other rabbit is white with brown/black spots, and Lawson has named her Chocolate Chip. They are really cute! I will post a photo soon.

We are also going to have a quarterly newsletter, so please watch for the details on how to sign up to receive that via email. The newsletter will keep you updated on specials and upcoming events.
